Let’s Guesting!

It’s that time of year again. I’m going to be away for a while in July, and I’ll need some guest comics to fill the gap. If you read this comic and have one of your own (or if you just really like to draw and have an idea for some bee-related shenanigans), you could really help me out by submitting a guest comic, and I’ll help you out by queueing a bunch of posts linking the hell out of your site hours before my flight, if history is any indication.

Guidelines are the same as usual – the strip will be displayed as 900 pixels wide, so please submit a version that’s at least that wide (no height restrictions), feel free to use any colors/styles/media you’re comfortable with, and keep things somewhat work-safe (the example I usually use for this is “don’t make the Sciencemen anatomically correct,” but this time around I’m going with “don’t make Scootsie say the f-word”).

If you’d like to submit a guest comic, or if you have any further questions, send them to kyatt@beeserker.com by July 1st. Find some time this June to sit under a shady tree and draw a bug-filled robot coming up with some flimsy excuse to rip people in half.

Much obliged,

~Kyatt

Scienceman Twins: The Beegirl Update

I’m working on a content update for that game I made last year, Scienceman Twins, which will include, among other things, several new playable characters. One of these new characters, as you may have guessed from this post’s title and image, is Trigona Ambrose. She has a special ability that lets her hover when you hold the jump button; this may be handy for clearing long distances, but it may also slow her down. Such is the price you pay for semi-functional wings on your boots.

This new version of Scienceman Twins will be available to play on April 1st, 2014 – the 4th anniversary of Beeserker. In the meantime, check my Twinblog for more updates about this update.

Blue to Gray (Grow Up and Blow Away)

I haven’t had a new blog post since October, so I figured I’d make one just to say that I changed the site’s background – it’s now significantly more hexagonal!

Also, I’d like to point out that there is only one more full set of cherry character coasters available at the Beeserker store. I’ll eventually make some more, but since I make them out of whatever wood is left over at the shop, who knows what kind the next batch will be made of? This may be your last chance, cherry enthusiasts!

Scootsie Plus Three

coastersetWhen life gives you lemons, make lemonade. About a year ago, I learned that when life gives you access to a CNC router, make wooden drink coasters with one of your webcomic’s characters carved into them, so the lemonade doesn’t leave a mark on your table.

Until now, I’ve only been selling coasters with Scootsie carved into them, but this week, I expanded to four designs. I made a pair of Scienceman Twin coasters and a Trigona coaster, which may look somewhat familiar to those who follow other Hiveworks projects. I’m selling them as a set at my store, and as a SUPER SPOOKY bonus, if you buy a set by Halloween, I’ll throw in a pack of Bootsie buttons for free (don’t add those to the cart – I’ll add them automatically). On November 1st, I’ll start selling the new coasters separately. Sorry, but I only have four of each coaster, and I want to make sure that somebody doesn’t buy up the lot of one of them right off the bat.

In conclusion, I would be remiss if I didn’t end one of these “new product” blog posts without reminding you that my shirt store is also open, and I’m still taking drawing commissions. Kyatt needs money for bags of tiny Halloween candy!

ihateeverycatI have people saying to me “those Scootsie coasters are neat, but when are you going to sell shirts?” Usually, my answer is “buy so many coasters that you can craft some kind of scale armor out of them,” but yesterday I got a Skreened account, and put a few designs on it. Right now, there’s every shirt Beeserker has worn in the comic, as well as a 2-sided Bootsie shirt that wound up having a really high base price (whoops). I’m going to add some new designs soon. Maybe some that actually have characters on them.

…but I digress. If you want to check out my Skreened store, click here!
